All over the world, no matter the country, there are all types of horror films. In other countries, there are certain movies that could be seen as scary for the people living in said country, but not as scary for people who live in other countries.

Here is a buzz feed link of different horror films made all over the country.
What makes movies scary in one country and not in another? There are numerous factors like different social norms, beliefs, culture, and media preference certain countries have. But the graphics and special effects are what really jump out at people. If you can tell too well that something is fake, then it tends to be less scary. It also depends on how much a country allows certain content to be shown.
Here is the trailer of Dutch horror film Human Centipede about a German surgeon who kidnaps three tourists and sews them together to create a human centipede.
The movie is just as graphic as as the two sequels following and due to zero censorship, everything is exposed and gives a whole new meaning to fear and disgust. Also the amount of music, dialogue, and tone a horror film gives off also puts a certain type of fear for people in one country than it would in another. We know when some foreign films stream in the U.S., there are normally subtitles, but for some people reading those subtitles kills the over all plot for the movie. To others it may not bother them.
